Newest Certified Practising Principal announced

Ms Woodberry, Principal of Zeehan Primary School in the state’s west, joins an exclusive group of just 11 school leaders in Australia – and the second in Tasmania – to have earned the right to use the post-nominal CPP.

The CPP asks principals to reflect upon their professional practice and to submit evidence of their impact on teacher efficacy, student achievement and whole-school improvement. Their work is assessed according to criteria developed by the principal profession and mapped to the Australian Professional Standard for Principals.

Ms Woodberry said she was delighted to have been awarded CPP status, and that the certification process reaped benefits for the whole school community.

'The opportunity to reflect on my leadership helped me identify areas of strength, but also areas that needed work,' Ms Woodberry said. 'I’m a better principal today as a result of undergoing certification. It’s a valuable process and I recommend it to all school leaders.'

CPP Board Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Queensland Education Leadership Institute (QELi) Neil McDonald said: 'Sharon’s work really exemplifies some of the complex and challenging work Australian school leaders do, and we are pleased to welcome her to the ranks of the CPP'.

Previous recipients of certification include Helen Jamieson of Corinda State High School in Queensland and Jacqui O’Donnell of Rockingham Beach Primary School in Western Australia. Read more.
