Call for abstracts: International Conference on Assessment and Learning (ICAL), 8 - 10 October 2020

ACER news 2 minute read

The International Conference on Assessment and Learning (ICAL) is a collaborative conference initiated jointly by Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) Indonesia, the Indonesian Educational Evaluation Association (HEPI) and the Indonesian Psychometric Association (APSIMETRI). These three organizations share a mutual interest in promoting assessment and evaluation as vital elements to monitor and improve learning in Indonesia and across the globe.

With the theme ‘Evidence, Assessment, and Learning: Supporting Quality Education for All’, ICAL 2020 focuses on the importance of assessment for monitoring learning and evidence-based strategies to improve teaching and learning. We all strive for student-centred learning, but is our education institution ready for the task and are we equipped with the required skills? Is our attempt to develop individuals with high self-esteem and strong social-emotional skills supported by a suitable form of assessment? ICAL is convened to explore these questions by connecting international researchers, practitioners, policymakers and other stakeholders to showcase and discuss their challenges, crowdsource evidence and explore effective interventions.

The conference takes place on 8-10 October 2020 in Kuta, Bali, and includes a number of workshops, plenary, oral and poster presentations as well as keynote speeches from Andreas Schleicher, Geoff Masters and John Hattie. The conference foci include education policy and evaluation, assessment, and psychometrics.

ICAL 2020 is currently accepting abstract submissions until 15 June 2020.
