AEA is offered as an admission pathway for domestic students wishing to apply for a place in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours).
What is the Aptitude for Engineering and Computer Science Assessment?
The Aptitude for Engineering and Computer Science Assessment (AEA) is a two-and-a-half hour multiple choice test that assesses a test taker's aptitude to think scientifically, solve quantitative problems, critically analyse information and display interpersonal understanding.
AEA has been developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) to assist universities to select students into courses offered by the Engineering and Computer Science faculties.
Who should sit AEA?
AEA offers a pathway to the Engineering and Computer Science faculties at universities for students who:
- have not completed the prerequisite subjects necessary for admission to Engineering and Computer Science courses
- wish to have information about their aptitude for Engineering and Computer Science considered alongside their state school certificate results (Higher School Certificate, Queensland Senior Certificate, The South Australian Certificate of Education, Victorian Certificate of Education, Western Australian Certificate of Education)
- seek entry to Engineering and Computer Science faculties as a mature age student
- seek admission to Engineering and Computer Science faculties as an international student and wish to have information about their aptitude for Engineering and Computer Science considered alongside their documented results
- seek admission to Engineering and Computer Science faculties as an international student and have not studied subjects traditionally required for admission to Engineering and Computer Science courses.
